Ted Williams is a noted authority on aviation history with a particular interest in American fighter aircraft. His award winning aircraft illustrations have graced the pages of many magazines, journals and books. This book traces the evolution of the American fighter plane, featuring forty of the country’s most revolutionary designs. It opens with the Thomas-Morse MB-3 pursuit plane and concludes with the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.

Each aircraft is given 4 pages which includes commentary by aviation historian Amy E Williams (the artist’s daughter), a 3-view plan drawing with technical specifications and plenty of high quality period photographs. The excellent Ted Williams illustrations are all set against ‘blueprint’ style plans of the relevant aircraft.

In summary this is a well written and pleasingly presented historical reference work that provides the perfect vehicle for displaying the Ted Williams’ impressive artwork.
