Generally regarded as America’s premiere aviation artist of modern times, William Phillips has been painting aviation subjects for over three decades. Into the Sunlit Splendor is an impressive book by any measure and contains a large cross section of the artist’s work.
If you have the first William Phillips book, The Glory of Flight, then you will find a fair amount of overlap in the images, as compensation though there are many of his paintings created in the intervening years including a lot that many readers will not have seen. Overall this is an impressively large and heavy, ‘coffee-table’ volume with top production quality and is highly recommended.
