Background
A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, James Dietz started his professional career as an commercial illustrator. His lifelong passion though was aviation and 1978 he took the decision to specialise in this field. Jim’s involvement with the Experimental Aircraft Association helped bring his work to the attention of a wide audience, he won the top trophy at their annual art show many times.

James Dietz is an active contributor to both the Air Force and Navy Art Programs. His originals hang in many prestigious private and public collections including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum. Jim is probably best know for his focus on the aviators themselves, particularly those from WW I.

For Collectors
Around 30 limited edition prints have been released to date featuring the aviation art of James Dietz and are available from most good dealers.

Final Analysis by James Dietz

Our Favourite
Surely the finest ever piece of aviation art that doesnt have an actual aircraft in it. But Final Analysis doesnt need one, its story is clear and moving. Every collection should have a copy.
