Although only a slim volume this Dover Publications book contains a delightful collection of John Batchelor’s aviation artwork. A selection of illustrations, cut-aways and full frame paintings tell the story of flight from the Wright Flyer through to the B2 stealth bomber.

After a short introduction by the author, each page is laid out with 2 or 3 different aircraft, with each supported by a paragraph of text about the aircraft pictured. Some insight into how the artist goes about creating the images, particularly the complex cut-aways, would be welcome but nevertheless this is a nice volume that is well presented and modestly priced.
